This is a quote from Stan Joosten of P&G (A very smart and well spoken marketer if I have ever come across one). When asked why the dollars do not follow the audience to online he said, “because we do know that advertising online works, but the variance between high performance and low performance is great”.
Simply put, when you hit a success online, you hit big, but when you miss you miss by a wide mark.
It’s an interesting thought to think about and mull over, so I will leave you to do so.
